Killer phone

What Max Reckons Regular site defacer Shahab writes:

We need Max’s comments about the iPhone launch!

I think if I was writing Jennifer Government today, it would be phones, not sneakers.

Oh God, not here too. I find it pertinent to mention that preliminary estimates put the gross cost of the Jesusphone's parts at around $200 USD.

Not quite as good a profit margin as $2500 Nikes, but still pretty outrageous - especially with no carrier subsidies and a two year contract.

My overpriced handset runs on Linux!

I quite agree, Max.

My cheap-with-contract runs Symbian OS, and will last me until I can get a Linux phone :)

It took every ounce of willpower for me not to buy an iPhone. I think it's a bit different than the sneakers in your book though. Steve Jobs has no interest in keeping a low supply of iPhones which made standing in line for hours for one pointless. The amount of interest in it is still pretty crazy though.

*snicker*
A few kids in my class ditched there phones that were only a few months old for the iPhone. My cell is a year and a half old, doesn't take pictures, and can't go on the Internet or download song, and it still has more features than I need.

Did anyone notice that the iPhone got more press coverage than the attempted terrorist attack on the British airport.

I've boycotted cell phones, so I don't even know what an i-Hoozle is!

hah, I just made an Account over this article, although I have read Syrup and Jennifer Government.

well, here's the things that a $600 iPhone cannot do.

• 3G (EV-DO/HSDPA)
• GPS
• A real keyboard
• Removable battery
• Expandable Storage
• Direct iTunes Music Store Access (Over Wi-Fi or EDGE)
• Songs as Ringtones
• Games
• Any flash en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash support
• Instant Messaging
• Picture messages (MMS)
• Video recording
• Voice recognition or voice dialing
• Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Streaming (A2DP)
• One-size-fits-all headset jack (May have to buy an adapter for certain

It costs about $200 to make an iPhone, and they sell them for $500. That's a huge profit.
